Don’t let drinking ruin your holiday season

With Christmas and New Year just around the corner Toi Te Ora - Public Health is urging people in the Bay of Plenty and Lakes districts to think about their drinking to make sure the season is fun and safe for everyone.

“It’s important to remember what the holiday season is really about – celebrating and spending time with people we care about and this can so easily be ruined when people drink too much,” said Regional Manager Graeme Savage.Click here to read more

Extreme Fishing at Waihau

Mark from Extreme Sportfishing reports: "I just got back from a few days in Waihau Bay. Fishing was pretty tough but we still managed to get some real good kingis, including one over 25kg and another around 22. These fish were as tough an adversary as I have seen in a long time and was surprised that they were not bigger. We also got a few around 18 to 19 kg and plenty of rats as well. One thing of note was the huge number of barracouta down there that were ready to destroy any jig that come near them, have to say I was happy this charter group brought all of their jigs with them!"
