Well, with the holiday's underway our softbaiting trips are frantic. The Firth of Thames in full of solid Snapper, Kahawai and Kingies. The most consistant being the shallows towards Piako and off Thames Pak&Save in 5 to 7 metres of water or Orere point and around and in the Waikawau Mussel farms. If you are on holiday the mussel farms early morning or late evening will produce results in the 6 to 10 pound range. The best part at present are the large school's of Kahawai and kingies. Just look for the birds and some solid midday action can be had at present by chasing this sign.Click here to read more

MFish launch ‘Size Does Matter’ awareness campaign

Size Does Matter’ is the key message of the Ministry of Fisheries summer awareness campaign which was launched 5th December.

The campaign aims to inform the public about the fishing rules and regulations they need to adhere to while out fishing this summer.
