The East Auckland and Hibiscus Coast Kayak Fishing Clubs had their annual competition trip in our region, to Whatuwhiwhi over the week end of 13th-15th March and some of our Northland Kayak Fishing Club members teamed up with them for support. NKFC member Pete McGhee had a wild and fruitful session on the Friday in 20/25knt winds. He reports that whitebait shoals were about 20m offshore from the campsite in 1-2m of water being hammered by hundreds and hundreds of Kahawai around 60-75cm in length, of which he caught many and will probably last him through the winter.Click here to read more
