80 kg Big Eye Tuna Caught in BOP

Phil Clark from Auckland landed this beauty on the 9th January. It's an 80kg big eye tuna which he landed using 37kg tackle while fishing on DVZ. It was weighed in on friday at the Tauranga Game Fishing Club, who coincidently was holding it's Tuna Tournament at the time. Unfortunaltly Phil wasn't entered - but a tuna of this size would have been reward enough I'm sure!

Glen Mouat caught this beauty 285kg Blue Marlin and 15.7kg shortbilled spearfish while chasing Tuna at the Alderman Rise this week. He was using a 24kg gear and was on Pied Piper. There is plenty of Blue Marlin out there at the moment and shortbilled spearfish in close to the Aldermans in the Bay of Plenty!
