Opotiki Report
The Opotiki Surf Fishing Club has been very busy in recent times, holding two club weekends over the last three weeks. Overall, February fishing was modest with a total of 38 fish put to the weigh masters scales by the 13 club members who ventured out. Heaviest snapper was 1.1kg going to Peter Hill, heaviest kahawai was 1.85kg to Lou Edwards and heaviest trevally was 1.7kg to Barry Gordon. The fishing certainly improved into March with snapper and kahawai at the top of the list. A total of 63 fish across nine club members were weighed in last weekend. Sam Edwards did very well taking the heaviest snapper at 2.3kg and top kahawai at 1.8kg.
