Where to fish over christmas break out of Tauranga
I'm newish to fishing out of Tauranga and wondered if anyone was prepared to share (in general terms) the place to fish, for a feed, at present. I don't usually venture out that far but would like to get out to Middle Ground some time soon on a good day. Will the Tarakihi still be there at this time of year? What would be the best depth to fish for them - I guess anything over 30m.
Any ideas would be appreciated, such as best depth at present for snapper. I presume the harbour should be hotting up for snapper but better Feb to Apr.
The reports are very useful so I'll keep an eye on them.

Teriki are still in close. I caught 13 at the 3 mile yesterday in under an hour. Good luck!

Fishing Spots
Hi t-fisher
Welcome to our forums. For the January edition of Bay Fisher Magazine instore late December we have an article specifically on the information you are requesting with GPS marks, target species and how to fish them. We will in the near future also be intrducing "GPS mark of the week" from locations ranging from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island. The Tarakihi are on there way out to deeper water now with the temp up over the 18 c mark.
Cheers Kevin.
