The two premier kingfish destinations in New Zealand (in the world, for that matter) would have to be the Three Kings Islands and Ranfurly Banks. I had always favoured the Three Kings over the Ranfurly for its sheer ruggedness and the spectacular islands in the area - but now, after having been on my first serious venture to the Ranfurly Banks, I may have to change my views. For anglers living in the Bay of Plenty access to Ranfurly is so much easier than the long drive to the Far North for the Three Kings and - most importantly - the fishing is truly spectacular.Click here to read more
